Best tartare in the city?

What's your take on who serves the best ______________ tartare in the city?

For now, my vote goes to the Hoof's smoked meat tartare (perfectly executed). Second place goes to the raw kitfo at Dukem (Ethiopian).

The Black Hoof always has great tartares. The beef heart tartare currently on the menu is beefier than the beefiest beef.

I've only eaten there once, but the kitfo at Addis Ababa on Queen W. was excellent. Everything else we ordered was disappointing, so perhaps it was a matter of context, but damn.

You can only say that because you haven't tried mine. Here is a pic of some I made last week using extra lean 40 day dry aged ground beef from Cheese Boutique.

I really enjoy the elk tartare currently on the appetiser menu at Globe Bistro

Steak Tartare is my absolute favourite thing to eat and I just had fabulous tartare at Pastis last week..so incredible I might have to go back this week...I would have to say it (Pastis) is now my #1 place...having dethroned Bistro 990 and Auberge du Pommier but I would never turn it down
at either of these places...Pastis is in my neighbourhood while the others are a car ride away.,,,,frites are way better at Bistro 990 than Pastis..oh well!

Agree with Dukem, or any of the Ethiopian places I've been too actually. Haven't tried Hoof tartare but I imagine it's awesome like most of their dishes are. I do recall having a really great tartare at Noce across from Trinity Bellwoods. BIg flavour, perfectly balanced, well-seasoned.

I enjoyed Le Select tartare as well. Batifole makes a nice horse tartare, but I'd ask them to use a lighter hand on the salt. Dukem and Rendez-Vous have good kitfo.
