Calling all Americans: BBQ chicken sauce recipe wanted!
Hoping you BBQ masters can help me - I am in the UK and desperately want to recreate the flavour of some of the delicious American-style chicken wings I had in the States. Does anyone have a recipe for the sauce/marinade? And is it best to cook them in the oven first then finish off on the BBQ? Past attempts on the BBQ have resulted in either pink chicken or dried up wings.
Thanks!

re: pj26
i make a couple of different styles...
i make a taco flavored wing...basically taco flavored seasonings..mixed with a breadcrumb mixture..
i do a cuban "mojo" marinated then grilled chicken wings/drums...then mop them with your fave bbq sauce...lately its "bone suckin sauce"and buffalo wings..i agree with gembellina...
if u search chow and use google...u can finds all kinds of buffalo style recipesi have been meaning to try Big Bob Gibson's white sauce also...

The superbowl threads are usually good for chicken wing recipes. I didn't get round to making nomadchowwoman's amazing sounding bourbon-glazed ones but I did bookmark the post:

This one is a sticky sauce which I use to marinade the chicken overnight. Cook in the oven all the way or half in oven then finish on BBQ. I make a couple of slices through to the bone or stab with a fork before marinading otherwise you wont get the flavour to penetrate through to the meat.
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbs. ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 tbs garlic
seasoning
Mix all ingredients together & pour over chicken. Leave overnight, then cook. This is a good all rounder for ribs, bbq chicken, hunters chicken or whatever you want to use it for.
2 cups chopped onion
2 tablespoon grated garlic
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup tomato paste (1 glass jar)
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup honey
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
seasoning
Saute the onions & garlic until softened. Add the remaining ingredients & simmer for 30 mins until thickened & reduced. Allow to cool completely before marinading meat.
