newport advice

En route to meet 10 of my husband's college friends for drinks at the Marriott Bayview in Newport. They may have plans for dinner but if not, any ideas for something casual - maybe Mexican or burgers - that would accommodate this group? Thanks!

Mexican in the area: El Ranchito on PCH (good for big groups); for better Mexican: Taco Rosa in Newport Coast.
The Crow Bar on PCH for burgers/beers/gastro-pub vibe. More expensive than the above options.

There are two, very old school Mexican places in Costa Mesa, Mi Casa and El Matador. They have been around forever and are good Sonoran style food.

For burgers there is TK nearby, Mick Karma Bar and Steelhead Brewing Co., not cheap burgers but good and great beer.

Houston's is a solid choice and not too far from the Marriott. If you willing to head south toward the beach (10 min) then there's Sol Cocina for upscale Mexican or Crow Bar for great burgers and beer selection. Good luck!!

For a group that size, I'd recommend Kimera, just a short drive north on Jamboree. It's a lounge / bar / restaurant. More expensive than burgers or Mexican. Atmosphere is a little more dressy than that, too.

If you really want burgers, then TK Burgers is a local operation. A real beach town feel, with surf decor and great burgers. There's one on Bristol and Baker in Costa Mesa. Across the street from TK are Valhalla Table, taco asylum, ecco, all good choices food-wise and beer-wise, but much more expensive than burgers. Taco asylum is pretty small- might have problems seating a group of 10 on a busy night.

Give us a little more to go on. What do they like to eat? Budget in terms of $$ per person? Any picky eaters that won't eat X?

My post listed the Bayview Cafe but it's the Bayview Marriott. Somewhere close by would be great. Thanks again.
