It's in season somewhere. There's been tons of it at both Safeway and Fry's for the past couple of weeks. No idea where it's coming from.

Oops. Sorry, being Euro-centric here. I only eat asparagus in Germany/Netherlands/France, and only in those months.

The white asparagus I tried in the US sucked in comparison.

Well, Cookyman didn't ask where to get *good* white asparagus this time of year :-)

Also, linguafood, FYI the growing seasons here are all kinds of wonky. By the end of May, the average daytime highs are over 100, to say nothing of hot days, so it's not exactly typical spring growing. I've been here a year and a half and I still can't figure out when things are in season. So if anybody's growing white asparagus here (I haven't seen it, but I certainly haven't looked), its peak will probably be a different time of year.

    2. Thanks for the responses.
I'll try going to Fry's today.

I'll take the "good" or the bad ones this time of year

        Any other suggestions?
Went to Fry's today and they don't have them.
Customer service is going to look into seeing if they can order it for me.

Weird. I saw it twice this week... explained to the little fella why they're white. Call Safeway (48th & Indian School) and Whole Foods (Tatum & Shea). At least one of them had it.
