At the time of this writing, a.kitchen is just 2 weeks old and already appears headed to become one of the innest of the in. But, aside from great minimalist decor and excellent service, it can standalone on the quality of the food. Just, beware. On a Saturday night, it may be quite difficult to hear your dining partners above the noise.

As far as service goes, not only did the waiter time dishes perfectly and make sure our water and wine glasses were never empty, the GM came over twice to check on everything and one of the owners (I think) checked to make sure the wine was cool enough and personally brought over a nice slim wine cooler that didn't take up too much real estate on our table for 2.

We were lucky enough to score a 7:15 reservation at practically the last minute. I suspect someone must have just cancelled. We had 6 dishes counting a dessert and all were equally delicious with attractive presentations and the requisite spritzes of tasty light sauces. Three that were brought out first included shrimp with chilies which were served with the heads for presentation purposes, but were completely separate from the shrimp themselves, mushroom croquettes with a slightly smokey cheesy filling and a farro salad with a very generous portion of perfectly shellless extremely fresh tasting cold crabmeat. Next came an order of Spanish mackeral and a sea bass. Each was a lunch sized portion. The two fish were quite discernably different from each other, very fresh and delicious, neither too strong or too mild.

Dessert was a delicious take on a cheesecake, very light and flavorful with really fresh Jersey blueberries. Wine was an OK, but refreshing for summer, white Burgundy. There seemed to be a pretty good well edited wine list.
