New love for razor/bamboo clams while working in Hong Kong.Love the simple, steamed with garlic and cilantro prep.Looking for the long thin bamboo shaped, not the oval shaped clams, also called razor, available in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks

  1. Razor clams are on tonight's menu at the Casino in Bodega. Don't know which type.

    Other recent sightings?

    1. I have seen razor clams for sale at Tokyo Fish Market on San Pablo. Not sure if they have it all the time, so probably should call first.

      1. Coqueta serves a trio of them for $14. They keep it simple by grilling them with lemon and scallions.

It didn't have the signature crunch that a live clam straight from market would have, but it was still a good prep.

        1. Swan's can occasionally get them, but sometimes the minimum order is about 50 lbs. I was able to get a reasonable small order at San Francisco Fish Company in the Ferry Building about a month ago I think.

          1. Razor clams sighting at Liang's Market on Stockton St in San Francisco Chinatown on Monday. IIRC, $8.99/lb.

I still crave the ones I had at Silver House in San Mateo a number of years ago. I tried to repeat not long after, called and was told they had them but not so upon arrival. Anywhere else to find them? They had two styles as I recall, whatever I had and one with black beans.

Dopo in Oakland and Corso in Berkeley serve them from time to time. You just have to keep checking their daily menus.
