There's a lot of bad tres leches out there. Guapo's makes a very nice one, and they sell them whole to take away. Call first.

for the BEST 3leches you may have to drive to burtonsville, md. there's a hole on the wall kind of restaurant called cuba de ayer. we drive miles to go for the 3 leches alone. the food is delicious, but the 3 leches is divine!!

I second Cuba de Ayer, although I know that people who write "preferably n D.C." rarely are going to come all the way up here for cake. But it's good cake!

I like the tres leche at Guatemalteca Bakery in Old Town Gaithersburg.

I like the Tres Leches cake at Mitsitam - the restaurant in the American Indian Museum. I really don't know good from bad on this item, but I've enjoyed it at Cafe Salsa.
