Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Boston (and suburbs)

Chinatown Advice

My Dad's up from Florida and he wants to get dinner in Chinatown tonight. The catch is that I would like something on the fancier side for Chinatown (kind of along the lines of Montien). Our usual spots like Peach Farm, Xinh Xinh and Gourmet Dumpling House are not quite what I'm looking for. Any suggestions? My fall back plan is Montien.

  1. The Q Restaurant, Burbor Cha Cha and Penang come to mind.

    1. Not much in the way of white tablecloths in Chinatown. My favorite of the nicer-looking places is New Shanghai, which despite the English name does Beijing and Sichuan cuisine (two chefs), both very good.

I believe Q Restaurant is also pretty fancy-looking, but I haven't tried it yet. It specializes in Mongolian hotpot, but has a very broad menu of Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes.

      1. Jade Garden (on Beach) is relatively nice white-tablecloth ambiance. Try the fuzhou fried rice and the salt-and-pepper live baby shrimp. Your dad may also like a table in front of their HD TV.

        1. Q would be your best bet for ambiance.

          1. Dumpling Cafe on Washington has a decent ambience.
