Birthday Dinner on a Sunday?

We are taking a child to camp in Carlisle this weekend, which happens to be my birthday. We're breaking up the trip in Clearfield, but after looking at this board (and Yelp), I'm having real trouble figuring out where to go for dinner any day of the weekend.

Saturday we'll be driving from Chicago to Clearfield. I'd appreciate any dinner suggestions anywhere between Youngstown, OH and Clearfield. It doesn't have to be fancy, but the burger place in Clearfield Denny's Beer Barrel Pub) didn't look very appealing. Perhaps I'm mistaken. Almost all of the on-line reviews for anything in Clearfield are quite old, and I know the recession has had a negative effect on restaurants.

The larger problem is Sunday. We will be driving from Clearfield to Carlisle to drop the kid, and then would like to go for a nice dinner before driving back to Clearfield. Many, many places look to be closed because it's Sunday (including the recently discussed Bistro 71, and Elizabeth's in Lewisburg, which looks wonderful). We are willing to drive, but our evening will be more fun if we're driving west instead of east. Are Harrisburg restaurants our best bet? Romantic suggestions, please?

Thanks! I'm usually pretty good at just finding what I need, but I'm really stuck this time.

  1. Denny's Beer Barrell is somewhat famous for their enormous burger sandwiches. I've seen it profiles on the Food Network and Travel Channel. The burgers are big, but I don't know if that necessarily means they're tasty. Might be worth checking out just to say you did though.

I answered your question in the Bistro 71 thread, but if you're looking for more of a romantic dinner and you'll be driving from Carlisle, I think maybe Harrisburg is your best bet. My favorite place is Bricco downtown:
