Does anyone know where I might find Sour Cherries locally?

Around this time of the year, they start showing up at the St. Paul Farmers' Market. There's only one or two suppliers, though. And last year, harvest was abyssmally low. Should be back up again this year.

I'm sorry that I can't recall to mind the name of the supplier, but I usually find him in the middle aisle, closer to 4th Street.

Thanks! I'll keep my eyes open for them. I'm dying to try whipping up a batch of Cherry Bounce.

I think that is Maple Leaf Orchard at the St Paul Market - I'd suggest calling in advance. He's also advertising a pick you own day on the 30th this year, so he must have a decent crop.

I have not tried it but learned this year (while picking strawberries out there) that Apple Jacks orchard in Delano lets you order sour cherries (and some other fruit) through them from orchards in Michigan (deadline was July 10 for the sour cherries) - 10lb box for $39.00

Went to the Maple Leaf Orchard web site. The guy in the pic looks like the guy I buy from, so they must be it. Nice to see the pick your own offer, too. And only 20 cents more per pound to have them pit the cherries!

          yum yum yum

I have been getting them from my mother in Indiana. Sour cherries are a rare treat - they make baked goods very yummy! Thanks!

I picked some at Sam Kedem's farm in Hastings. That was more than a week ago, so I don't know how much of the crop is left... it's a small orchard. But they were delicious!

Mississippi Market usually has them, this is right off their home page...

"Sweet Cherries from Door County should arrive July 20th. Tart cherries will be a week or two later. After being rained out last year, the long wait will soon be over."
