Cocktails and dinner at the bar in Hull?

Been to a couple of places in hull that I cannot recall the names of ( thats how memorable they were).

Looking for places to have a leisurely dinner and a few drinks at the bar.

Bonus points for a place with a good by the glass wine menu...

      Just found this: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7950...

And I remembered the places I went to:

Tosca: Okay at best. Beef was disappointing. Crowd at bar was nouveau riche asshats. Staff was nice. Beautiful space.

Alma Nove: This place was down right awful from the food to the staff. Gnocchi were rubber balls with a squishy center, DROWNED in cheap truffle oil. Wines by the glass were poorly chosen plonk. Staff were all about the caliber i would expect in an irish pub: inept and disinterested.

Probably should't be recommending this place since I haven't tried it yet, but I always like the location right on the beach. So if anyone has tried Beachfire on Nantasket Beach maybe they could give us the low down. I know they have an outdoor patio and a nice bar, from the website they don't look like they changed much of the interior. I actually like Schooners as well, even though it's pretty dated, you get a water view from the bar and they have good fried clams.

Beachfire for drinks only. DO NOT EAT THERE! Barefoot Bob's is very funky but fun with a good bar near the water. All the way at the end of Hull is Joe's Nautical. Also funky, but has a patio that's looks at the water. After drinks go to Mezzo Mare for the best Haddock you've had in a long time. Everything there is delicious!!! Bridgeman's; not great. Better to go to Schooner's for their seafood and bar.
          Enjoy,

CocoDan, Have you been to La Dalat? Pretty good wine list for the beach.

              Coco Dan--

When did you go to beachfire? I have not yet been and really want to like it, given the location. I know this spot has long had great views but spotty (at best) food. Is it really that bad???

              Anyone else been recently??

Went a couple of week ago. Couldn't even get waited on for a drink. Great view though! Business partner had some food there and didn't like anything about it.

I'm guessing they'll be changing hands again soon. I dought if they'll make it.

Pomegranate-I have been to LaDalat, and really think it's a well kept secret. Have always had good food there. May have to get back there soon. Thanks for reminding me. And yes, pretty good wine list.
                Enjoy,

                  Thanks CocoDan.

Someone who loves good food should run that location, such a great spot!

I agree. Can't figure out why no one could make it there. Must have something to do with the landlord. The property itself is problematic. Oh well, maybe someday.

I like Barefoot Bob's on the beach, but it can be a bit tacky and cheesy. Some of the food is very good, though. I also like Bridgeman's, and Typhoon in Hingham is a decent upscale place to go with drink options.

La Dalat is wonderful and has a nice wine selection. The food is Vietnamese and they have an amazing sushi bar.

Tosca and Alma Nove are in Hingham rather than Hull and I agree with your assessment of both places.

As previous posters have mentioned Bridgeman's and La Dalat are great options as well as Barefoot Bob's. I would also throw in:

Sapporito's: Itallian. The place is tiny and looks like a dump from the outside but the food is quite good.

Mezo Mare: Also Itallian but great for large parties and a huge appetite. Fantastic in the winter due to their roaring fireplace.

Hull's Kitchen: Casual food and atmosphere open only in the summer. Hands down my favroite go-to place in the summer with amazing fish tacos. I've never had a bad meal there.

Try the nantasket hotel and beach fire for a drink. Beach fire is serving privateer rum. It is new and pretty nice

Sea Dog Brew Pub opened up a location in Hull - its at the end of A Street, right on the water. On the third floor, so you get a great view of the ocean. Can't attest to the wine list, but it does have a full bar with ample seating. Food definitely fits the "leisurely" category - tried the spice-crusted ahi tuna appetizer (really good) and the calamari appetizer (not so good - the chili glaze was more like the sauce that comes with Sweet & Sour Chicken). DCs had the fish tacos and fried scallops - both were very satisfied with their meals.
