Hello chowhounders! I am planning to see a show at Temple Repertory Theater on Thursday evening and was thinking of getting an early dinner before the show at Fathom Seafood House in Fishtown.

Has anyone been and what did you think of it?

I've been there a few times since I live a few blocks away. I think they do a fine job with their sea food dishes . I recently tried their crab cake sandwich and shrimp tacos which were pretty good. The food won't blow you away but it's a fun little place. The calamari small plate is delicious though and I highly recommend it.

It's a small place, so probably good to have a back up plan. I did enjoy it though, the oysters and shrimp were fantastic. I had salmon burger, which was really good, but for the price, I thought it was odd that it didn't come with a little side salad or a few fries or something.

In that hood, I'd recommend both Johnny Brenda's and across the street, the new Starr Frankford Hall Beer Garden. I thought the sausages and sides were really tasty and reasonably priced.

just to follow up- really like Fathom Seafood and thank you for recommending the shrimp tacos, which we really loved! The crabcake was just OK I would not order that again.

My husband enjoyed the oysters - and they were a bargain at $1 each during happy hour!

No problem getting seating, in fact it was fairly deserted for an early dinner on a Thursday night.
