Any Suggestions for Group of 14 in Long Island City or Astoria?

This is for a friend.

A group of 14 is looking for an informal place to have a going away party. To say the least, it is a heterogeneous group. Four of the 14 are more than 90 years old, and several are in their early 20s, and a couple of tweens are in the mix.

The best way to describe this group is not too adventurous with a slight leaning towards healthy. They are perfectly sanguine with an upscale diner. Greek or seafood-oriented places are fine. A private room is not necessary (although it might be a blessing to the other patrons!).

Any thoughts would be most appreciated!

Thanks to everyone for your help. The party is going to be tonight at Riverview (as my friend says, the host of the party "can't make a move without Zagat approving it.")

I'll report back how the meal went.

Probably won't be a big shocker, but Riverview was a disappointment. No one expected for the food to be outstanding, but service was a real problem, and it took an hour before any food hit the table. Next time I think my friend will insist on artistic control over the choice. Still, thanks for your help.

Check out LIC MARKET. See if they will give you a long table on one side of the room. Riverview has disappointed every time. Ugh.

I was going to suggest RIverview as well- while the food is okay, it is a pretty big space and has a small private room which will be able to suit your needs. It has a lot of street parking during the weekend- I might also suggest Sidetracks- I liked the food and they are pretty big and have a lot of smaller rooms- they also have parking right across the street

Try Riverview. Views of the City, outdoor seating or private room if desired. Had a party there in the winter and they did a great job

Manducatis (the place you posted) and Manducatis Rustica (the name you referenced) are two different places.

Rich - Actually he posted the correct name and location for Manducati's Rustica. It is the daughter, I believe, of the owners of the original Manducati's, which I think moved to this new location.

Either way, I highly recommend it. I will second (or third) Riverview in LIC and also recommend L'Incontro in Astoria.

I'm doing my rehearsal dinner (with similar party size, age range, and tastes) at Zenon in Astoria. Prices are fair, considering the huge portions, and the food is fresh and delicious. My family does not like Mexican food, otherwise I would have considered De Mole in Sunnyside/Woodside. They have a side room which is ideal for small private parties. Food and ambiance is charming.

Second Zenon -- great food, family-friendly, informal ambiance but still a "nice" place.

Leng Lan (Thai) on Broadway is also quite decent and spacious.
