Chinese-Vietnamese Restaurant in/around Herndon

I am looking for a good restaurant owned by Chinese from Vietnam that serves an extensive Chinese and Vietnamese menu in or around Herndon. Dishes in particular I am seeking is phở áp chảo/hủ tiếu áp chảo, good mi xao don, crab steamed with rice inside lotus leaf, teo chew style rice cake in omelette, good salt and pepper/rang muoi seafoods with cornstarch dip, not over-battered, fresh seafood. Also good if they have good Chinese BBQ, particularly duck. Any recs?

I was in Herndon area this weekend and will be relocating there shortly...I saw loads of pho houses (ate at Pho 75, which was great) but didn't spot any extensive-menu VN or Chinese-VN restaurants, or Hong Kong/Cantonese-looking places despite digging on Yelp and taking a tour of "ethnic" restos and groceries (which thankfully Herndon and surrounding areas are chock full of. ) Please tell me I just missed the Chinese-Vietnamese places like the ones I so love in Houston and Austin, Texas. Am I gonna have to go to DC Chinatown for my fix?

"Am I gonna have to go to DC Chinatown for my fix?" -- I hate to tell you this DC Chinatown is really a Chinatown in name only most of the grocery stores and restaurants have move out to NoVa. The only thing Chinese about DC's Chinatown are some of the restaurant signs. You should try Eden Center http://www.edencenter.com/ they may have what you are looking for./

Oh, the edencenter list looks great! Thanks. That's too bad about DC Chinatown. I didn't know that.

    2. The only Chinese Vietnamese restaurant I know of in the region is Cho Chu Saigon in the Eden Center. They have pretty good Chinese BBQ if the roast pork and roast pig are any example. I've never tried their duck.

Just googled and read up on Cho Cu Saigon a bit...wow, PollyG thanks so much, this is exactly the sort of restaurant I had in mind. I can't wait to check it out. It seems Eden Center will be a great place to explore.

      2. You could try Vinh Kee in Falls Church, especially if you're interested in a banquet. It can be hit or miss.

Mark's Duck House used to be Cantonese owned but is now Vietnamese owned. Talk to the owners if you're looking for Vietnamese food.

There are quite a few good Vietnamese restaurants, Present, Four Sisters outside of Eden Center but not Chinese Vietnamese.

Vinh Kee menu is exactly what I am looking for. So, Cho Cu and Vinh Kee will be on my hit list. The duck house sounds great, too. I love Vietnamese food, as well, and I can't wait to try Present and Four Sisters. Thanks for the info, Chowser.

No I don't speak much Cantonese besides Hello and I love you!

        2. Within the Herndon area specifically there is Pho Reston 75 in the Tall Oaks shopping center. It's my favorite pho place in the area, and they have a pretty full menu. The proprietor is nice and always there.

There was a report recently about a new VN place up around Sterling. I haven't been able to check it out yet, and at the moment forget which post had that information.

In Herndon proper, over by Pollo Inka and Tortilla Factory (actually between them) there is a place that is always VN and changes hands/names every few years. The current incarnation is good (though I haven't been in a while) and has/had a full menu including bahn mi and salt and pepper dishes. The one before was awful, and the one before that (Nguyen Deli) was excellent and it's a shame they moved on. If you do go to this one; or find the one in Sterling, please report back!

For Chinese there's not much to speak of nearby. Sichuan Village in Chantilly works in a pinch, but I'd rather drive to Hong Kong Palace, Uncle Liu's or Joe's (and I'm fortunate enough to be near Grace Garden with some regularity). Yes, these are all generally or specifically Sichuan based, but that's my preference.
