Fava beans fresh or frozen on the Upper West

Does anyone in Manhattan (better yet, on the UWS) sell ready-shelled fresh fava beans? (OK, I'm lazy, but I would pay for the convenience)

Does anyone (Fairway, Whole Foods) carry frozen green fava beans?

Not too lazy to go shopping (I'm American; we shop) Just too lazy to shell volumes of fava beans.

So, I though that if someone had spotted them...

Tried Trader Joe's and West Side. They don't carry them.

    2. Not the UWS, but I've seen them frozen at BuonItalia in Chelsea Market. Fairway in Harlem anyway has had them fresh. And maybe even frozen--they've got large bags of many frozen veg.

Tried Fairway. They don't have frozen. Wish someone did, I'm not in Chelsea often. Guess I'll have to shell, blanch, and peel them myself.

I wonder if other ethnic grocers (from almost any Mediterranean culture) might carry frozen ones?

      2. 'Tis the (fava bean) season. Is anyone selling the fresh fava beans ready shelled? I was in Fairway today, and they have fava beans, but they are shell-it-yourself.

        1. Agata and Valentina, the Italian specialty store on 79th and First frequently has shelled, frozen fava beans when they're in season.

I've shelled them fresh, I've tried frozen preshelled. There's a noticeable difference, especially if you're going to just briefly steam or simmer them. I'd suggest no shortcuts in this case.

          1. Fairway had them fresh & already shelled this morning. Sent some home. Now just have to decide what to do with them for dinner tonight.
