Kitchen 1540 Changes?

I tried to call to make a reservation here the other day and I was told they are closed for renovations. Has anyone heard what's going on?

They posted a new dinner menu with a lot of new dishes. It looks like it's more oriented towards tapas / sharing, with many plates available in small or large portions. Their cocktail menu is completely new too, it appears. Their blog days they picked up a new mixologist.

The menu looks really good and I can't wait to try it tomorrow.

      Small blurb in the paper:

      http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/20...

$225,000 mini-rehab, reopening July 16th along with an all new "White Flag" wallet buster menu. They don't stop tossing food and drinks at you until you are pulling cobwebs out of your wallet and raise the white flag. Hay now! I'll have to get out there for my birthday party.

That is just great. I was planing to go here for my birthday on sun and I knew that they have some changes coming, but I had no idea about the White Flag deal. I just called and left them a message asking about the menu and you think they should call and inform you of this way a head of the time, specially when I mentioned on open table that this was a birthday dinner.. I think I should make a back up reservations for Blanca on sat, since they are not open on sun. Just my luck!!!

The "White Flag tasting menu" is not new but existed for quite some time even before the current changes (they prefer a 24 hours notice if you want to order the WF tasting menu). It is a maximum of 10 -course tasting menu but they will ask you in between courses if you "give up". The portions were larger than at your normal tasting menu but it was an outstanding tasting menu and together with Blanca for the best restaurant experience in SD.

Thanks honkman. That article made it sound like, that WF was the only option. I am curious about the new menu and changes. Hopefully I hear from them.

I just looked over the article and it looks like their original WF tasting menu is different to their new approach which more or less ordering multiple rounds of tapas until you tell them that you are full.
