Asian in Notting Hill

Looking for a good South East Asian , Chinese or Japanese restaurant near Notting Hill tube as we are going to the gate theatre. Not too expensive. Thanks...

Another option is C&R on westbourne grove for Malaysian. You can just hop any of those buses (328, 28, ...) that head from the gate to cheptsow and westbourne grove - probably quicker than Thai Rice which is a bit of a treck down portobello rd or on a bus. There's also a malay place under the overpass right before you get to Thai Rice that isnt bad, though not as good as C&R whose name escapes me

There is a really good Thai restaurant called Market Thai at 240 Portobello Road. I seldom find nice Thai in London, and thought this was pretty good (though I only had a pad thai and some spring rolls, both of which were excellent).

Both sound good options. I think the Thai is slightly closer to the Gate theatre so I think we'll try that. Thanks

Let us know if you enjoy it -- i especially like the setting and service. It looks exactly like something you'd find in Thailand.

Don't know about Notting Hill but Gold Mine in nearby Bayswater do excellent roast meats. Probably the best roast duck and char siu in London. The rest of the menu is variable though.
