Need Route 17 Recommendation
I'm traveling up Route 17 probably from Route 4 interchange Friday evening to NYS Thruway. I used to go to the Forum Diner on this trip but it is no more:( Any good diners or even fancier places to go that are on the highway that don't require a reservation as I'm not sure what time we'll eat?
No fast food, but anything else would work.
if you are up for burgers, right in the bergen town center is Bobby Burger Palace. Across the street in the strip mall with the Houlihans is the new BUCU (burgers and cupcakes). If you go a little further on 4, you can do Indian at Mantra. GSP has napa valley which is pretty good and Capital Grill if you want something more upscale for steaks
Even better than Bobby's Burgers is Bucu Burger. A slick, modern not-so-fast burger place with top of the line burgers and fries.
For upscale, go to Chakra on 4 East just west of 17. (U turn may be required at Paramus Rd).
All the diners around there suck.

I second Bucu Burger. It is right on Route 4 near 17, but it's in a strip mall and doesn't have a storefront that screams "burgers" like Bobby's Burger Palace. Get your GPS going or do a Google maps search. While you'll have a wait at Bobby's most of the time, Bucu is easy to navigate, both inside and out.
If you want really casual, Kinchley's pizza in Ramsey, very close to the thruway is an option. Right on Franklin.
In the Kohl's Shopping Plaza in Ramsey is a really good Greek place - Greek City. Casual, no reservations required, but good food and fair prices. Further north in Mahwah is the State Line Diner - a typical diner but food is decent and usually able to seat people promptly.
