Free Slurpee Day 2011 at 7-11

FYI .... because today is 7/11

  1. Stopped at two 7-11s on my way to work. The first one had a tempting pina colada flavor, but I went with the new Cowboys and Aliens-themed "Alienade" flavor: strawberry-raspberry lemonade (which is a shocking neon blue). Not bad, a little tart but mostly that intense Slurpee sweetness. The second one had Alienade, but no pina colada. Damn! I opted for the Mountain Dew Freeze flavor, which tasted much more watered-down than your average Mountain Dew.

I may hit two more 7-11s tonight, on my drive home -- I pass four every day, and these two will be on the right side of the road this time.

I was too tired and went straight home, and I'm probably better off for it.

        >>>I'm probably better off for it

True. However, excellent write-up about the two slurpess you tried.

    2. Shoot! I missed it this year. I love slurpees, especially the Coke flavor. We have been having very un-slurpee weather so it has been too cold to indule much this summer. That Alienade sounds very interesting...will have to check it out!

      1. Our 7-11 got overwhelmed. By the time I brought my kids over, the free slurpee cups were all gone and the slurpee machine was close to getting knocked out of action altogether. The only spigot that was still working properly was the Coke slurpee. Three others were totally broken, and two others were just putting out watery slurry.

Isn't that what a Slurpee is like anyway? :)

            Lucky for you Lou

Took the neighbor boy to the one down the street from us. All out of the small cups, the sign said. No More Slurpees. He and I both ignored the sign. He grabbed the fancy Star Wars cup and happily filled it w/coke slush. I paid 2$! So much for free...

What did you think "no more Slurpees" meant?

The free ones were 7 ounces, you got 20 or 32 ounces.

They have been doing free stuff on 7-11 day for decades now. Used to have a whole selection of items for either 7 or 11 cents, including mini hot dogs and 11 ounce bottles of 7 up, as well as ball caps, frisbees and other pre-labeled sample size items.

Then people got greedy and were grabbing dozens of the sample size stuff so many others did not get anything, or just stealing items. So they changed it to just the sample size Slurpees.

        2. Tried 3 separate locations for any flavor on a very hot day in NJ...first one wasn't offering it (non-participating) second one was a now closed location; 3rd one ended the offer at 3pm. So I called 7-11 and told them my experience and they mailed me overnight Fed Ex two dozen free Slurpee coupons....which I shared with the kids at the local daycare. Always better to go corporate.
