Terrible, almost laughable dining experience- has anyone been to Alize on Yonge?

I don't know if they were having an off night or what, but we went to Alize on a friend's suggestion on Friday night with another couple for a bite and some cocktails and it honestly felt like we were on a hidden camera show with the amount of things that went wrong?
People were walking out and complaining right and left. There was one server who didn't talk to us until about 20 minutes into sitting there and another server who pretty much barked at us for our drink order and delivered it as though she was being tortured - she had a sour long face the entire time that she served us and it was extremely off-putting.
We ordered Sangria for the table which had a single slice of skanky orange in the jug and was sickly sweet. We had to request water multiple times, we were served food that was beyond mediocre and practically had to beg for a bottle of wine with which to wash it down.
I guess we figured since it's been on that part of Yonge for a while and nothing much seems to survive there, that we were safe, but this place is a miserable dump. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Could they have switched ownership or something?

I also had an awful experience here. The server was rude and condescending to my husband when he ordered a mineral water ( he was the DD: didn't think you had to apologize for that). Food was mediocre. Service got worse through the evening as we had to get up from the table and walk over to the server, who was leaning up against the wall, staring into space, and ask him to bring our bill after waiting for over 30 minutes. I will NEVER go back.

Quite literally the worst meal I've ever had in Canada was at this restaurant (possibly just the worst meal ever).

Inedible food (out of six people no one consumed more than a few bites), slow, rude, inaccurate and ridiculous service (including the owner, who attempted to make things right by serving us cocktails that were awful as well). They can't cook beef to order (it looked like it was boiled far beyond well done). The fish wasn't fresh at all and appeared to be waterlogged. The pasta was a glutinous mess of overcooked noodles with a sauce vaguely reminiscent of filipino spaghetti. Pizza arrived completely burnt. Etc.

There was nothing redeeming about the meal whatsoever, and I'd gladly scarf Taco Bell for the rest of my life than return.

Admittedly, I haven't been in a few years (because of the bad experience I had), but when I was last there, the kitchen sent out the wrong pizza for me, which I discovered after taking a bite. This would have been quite forgivable, but what was unfogivable was that when I sent it back, they picked off the icorrect toppings, put on the correct ones, and drowned it in cheese hoping I wouldn't notice -- well, I did notice when I came across the piece with the bite out of it! Lucky for them I wasn't allergic to the toppings on the original pizza.

I actually went to Alize for dinner on New Year's Eve last year (I waited until the very last minute to make reservations and it was one of the few places that actually had free tables). The prix fix was 50 bucks that night, which was ridiculously overpriced for the mediocre food they were serving. If it had been 25 bucks, which is what I think their prix fix normally costs, I wouldn't have been so upset (it still would have been mediocre food, but at least it would have been cheap mediocre food, which is a bit more forgivable). They were just gouging because it was New Year's, which is understandable, but I will absolutely never go back there after that experience.

To be fair though, the service, as I recall, was fine. A bit slow, but basically fine.

I've been to Alize once for lunch - last month. I have to say that the service was pretty bad, but the food was pretty good. I wouldn't call it miserable or a dump...but I would say that it could have been a much more enjoyable experience.

Friday was the first night of Summerlicious -- you probably didn't go for a "bite", but went for a $25 three course meal.

We have been to Alize twice for Summerlicious dinners and definitely felt that we got out $25 worth. And, I actually had a glass of Sangria once and remember it being just fine. For a three course meal for $25, I don't think you can ask for more. My only complaint (and I honestly didn't mind) is that the tables are very close together. But, we didn't go for an intimate dinner. We went as a couple once and went with another couple the second time and we all remember the service and the servers to be just fine. Sorry to hear that your experience wasn't good.

Thanks for your reply. I realized that I was mistaken and that we actually went to Alize on this past Thursday - no mentions of a summerlicious menu and we didn't have a prix fixe, just the regular menu. Anyways, glad to hear that this is not the normal state of things over there.
