Mallorca Advice

  • 3

Hello Everyone,

I am goin to Mallorca on Saturday , for my first time. Looking over the menu , nothing seemed to really grab my attention , a lot of simple style dishes. (not a bad thing) ... Also I noticed a lot pictures of food on thier webiste that is not listed on thier menu.. I assumed they have "specials" ?

Does anyone have any recomendations on what to eat? I personally do not eat seafood, but there will be others that do.. Any help will work.

  1. First thing, get their Sangria - I love it. Their portions are huge. I would stick with the specials, it's usually a very long list including goat, boar, steaks the size of a large dinner plate, etc. My friend got prime rib and it looked like something from the Flintstones, haha. Their sides are kinda boring (vegs, homemade chips and salad). Some people complain it's "old and boring" but they have consistent food and service and offer a lot of choices beyond fish.

Thanks , burghgal. Asking around, I realize the specials are typcially the way to go. I am going for a family memeber birthday (she loves mallorca) ... I also just found out I have some fam from NYC joining us, should make for a nice meal!!

i will be sure to report back on my experience, even though this thread did not get much play

    2. I am not busy at work and wanted to give a little review of Mallorca.

The vallet parking is always a plus in my book. We made reservations for 6 people and were seated in the main Dinning area. However we were placed directly as you enter near the outside dinning entrence and very unattractive cooler. That area quickly became extremley warm I sweated most of the meal.

The two dishes I can comment on were the Pallea and my Fillet special. I did not find the Pallea to be very exciting, IT IS NOTHING LIKE what is pictured on thier website. However, my guests from NYC (cuban decents) LOVED IT.. Said it was very impressive..

My fillet took my by surprise. It was NOT the usual steak fillet I was expecting , more of a roast beef texure. It was very tasty , but not sure on what cut or meat for that matter. I enjoyed this meal, but could of used more of the sauce..

I do not drink sangria, but the whole table was not impressed at all.

The service was spot on , made the evening enjoyable.. I would not rule out Mallorca, but it just was not my cup of tea.
