Is there ANY decent food in/near Galloway?

Appears to be a wasteland of food unless you want fast food or bar food (bar food isn't bad, just don't want to eat it for a week).

Will be down there is August, and remember that the last time there was really nowhere to get anything fresh and decent for lunch. True? Is there somewhere I'm missing?

Looking for really any type of food - willing to drive a bit, but NOT going to Atlantic City for food (unless it's some sort of seafood by the water or something). Dives are ok, I just don't need the 5 star AC experience if that makes sense.

Also are there any bakeries?

Hope I don't sound too picky - lol

Thanks-

Golden Corral recently opened near Boscov's and is good food for their inexpensive price. Try hibachibuffetusa.com for nearby sushi and chinese.

Head north on Route 9 to Smithville and make a right, heading for the bay. Oyster Creek Inn, at the end of the road (literally) is a great place for a summer seafood fix. I prefer the outdoor "crab room" - the menu there is limited (lobsters, clams, blue claw crabs, corn, etc.) in terms of side orders - the full menu is served inside. Have a couple of cold beers while watching the boats come in - you won't be disappointed.

Enjoy! Just know that it gets crowded on weekends in the summer - if going on a Saturday or Sunday you'd be better off going at an odd time.

Thank you - we'll be there during the week so hopefully that will be easier.

Any other suggestions? No chain restaurants please - maybe something, such as the Oyster Creek Inn, that's unique to the shore?

There are a couple of small places along Route 9 in Absecon. There is a deli/sandwich place that is nice and a good Greek place too. Along the White Horse Pike heading towards AC there are also some places. Heading West towards Egg Harbor City there is a wonderful Italian restaurant - Tre Figlio - food is excellent. They are only open for dinner.

Good to know - thank you. A good sandwich would be awesome - as well as something more ethnic than the fare we ate last time we were there.
Any rec for what's along White Horse Pike? Or rather, is there anything to definitely avoid?

Tre Figlio sounds very nice - unfortunately we already have plans for dinner each evening - it's more of a lunch problem. But thank you!

I don't know how you feel about Greek food but if it's something you'd consider, I definitely rec this restaurant. Really fresh food served by friendly staff in a casual atmosphere. Their prices are very reasonable. Here's a link..

Skelly's Hi Point Pub in Absecon, NJ on Route 30/White Horse Pike is very good. They have a wide variety to pick from and good food and nice prices. We try to stop on our way to AC everytime we can get down there. Give it a try.

We drove by the other day and my husband told me he'd heard that it was a great place for a burger , and judging by the packed parking lot at an odd time on a Sunday afternoon, we'd agreed that he'd probably been well advised - I completely forgot about it - thanks for the reminder - have to give it a try.

Sounds great - bf will love the burger. Do you know if any of the veg options are ok? I'm alright with just a grilled cheese - not looking for fine vegetarian cuisine - lol
