Too late for your trip, but we just got back from the New River Birding Festival, and had 3 amazing meals courtesy of the Cathedral Cafe in Fayetteville. Two were a catered breakfast and lunch at the festival, they were so good that two friends and I went there for breakfast the day we left the area after the festival, and saw at least 6 other festival attendees there.

I had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and the best coffee I'd had all week. I don't remember what my two friends ate, but we all wanted to lick our plates.

It's on the main drag of Fayetteville in a former church building - hard to miss!

We were at the Snowshoe Resort last weekend and had dinner at the Elk River Inn. It really was fabulous. We had dinner outside on the porch. I had a stuffed local trout. There was a duck breast over risotto offered and I wanted that too. Oh well. My wife had a cucumber mint mojito but that is another story. Most all locally sourced food. Highly recommended. Worth a side trip but dont overlook a stay at Snowshoe during the summer, it was cool as a cucumber!

If you can catch them, When Pigs Fly BBQ is amazing. Usually they post where they will be on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/When-Pi...

This week they are at Colonial Ford on 219 north of Lewisburg. You can always email them. They are very friendly! We had their food in Lexington, VA at the balloon fest last 4th of July.

They make a great bbq sunday with pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw and a pickle. And I don't like coleslaw but I loved that one.

I have been traveling the area last couple months, and really like a local restaurant called: Sedona Cantina & Tapas (1690 Court St. S., Fayetteville, WV 25840)

We had Tortilla Lime Soup, fabulous! lots of fresh limes and tomatoes.
Eggplant Pita, nice well done and flavorful eggplant with very well prepped pita, prevent from getting soggy.
Mediterranean tuna is to die for; Tuna is so fresh and must be sashimi graded, lemon-garlic marinade and olives all over on the top.

            Great food, and great services.
