Soooo Good Southern BBQ (Tampa)
I would be remiss not to mention that I had a very good meal at Soooo Good Southern BBQ on Friday night. I ordered a 1/2 slab of ribs with hot bbq sauce on the side, sweet potato souffle and fries. The ribs had good smoke flavor and just the right amount of pull. The sauce is tomato based which has once again become my preference. For some reason, vinegar sauces have all started tasting the same to me. Soooo Good's sauce avoids being too sweet, but could stand to be more fully spiced either in terms of heat or complexity of flavor. It's by no means bad and I did dip every last fry into it. I have said this before here (although I could not find the thread. Lost in the splitting of the board?), the sweet potato souffle at Soooo Good is outstanding. It has chunks of brown sugar and nuts (walnuts?) in it that make each bite a surprise. I have tried to eat at Soooo Good a few times in the last several months and failed. My desire to get back there soon was significantly strengthened with this last meal.

Usually the sp souffle has either pecans or walnuts. The old Southern recipe that was passed on to me has a topping of cornflake crumbs, pecans, brown sugar, and melted butter. I have also used walnuts if I had them laying around but I like pecans the best.
