What to order at Blue Water Grill?

  • 7

Any Blue Water Grill fans out there? I'm going for a family party next weekend. Somehow I always had the impression that this wasn't a very good restaurant... like a shade away from a theme restaurant... but I'm hoping that's just some weird idea that I got in my head. Does anyone have some favorite dishes to recommend? Thanks Hounds!

  1. I haven't been there in a long time so can't give you any specific food recs. I will say that your thought that this is not a very good restaurant is not far off the mark. I used to love it years ago but felt it had gone significantly downhill and was just coasting. I would suggest keeping your menu options simple to avoid disappointment. At least it has a nice ambience, though I never cared for the highly scripted service with its relentless upselling.

Ug, I feel kind of bad about this... a cousin is graduating high school and his parents are treating around 10 of us to dinner. Too bad!

My boyfriend's parents are big fans of the restaurant, so I've been a few times even though it's not my favorite. That being said, I've found that anything in the "Simply Grilled" category is a pretty safe bet. The shrimp and scallops were good enough last time I had them, and the lobster mashed potatoes were good as well.

    2. if you like americanized sushi i think their specialty rolls are tasty.

      1. Thanks, folks. I'm sure it won't be horrific. But what a shame they picked such a mediocre place!

You have it all wrong. I felt the same way and stayed away for years. If this place had a different name and opened in the west village there would be a 3 week wait for a reservation. Go in with no pre concieved notions and you will enjoy the meal. Especially of someone else is paying.

        2. Hey there,
They do have a nice raw bar selection. I think it's partly because they move a huge volume of seafood and I've always found everything really fresh.
          Enjoy.
