Picnic/ToGo In San Francisco

My wife and I are staying in San Francisco but are taking a day trip to hike Muir Woods a crossed the Golden Gate. We would like to take a picnic or lunch with us before we go. And ideas where we can pick something for lunch before we head a crossed the Golden Gate?

If you are going to the bridge by 19th to Park Presidio on Geary you might find some interesting deli at Royal Market and if that doesn't work, House of Bagels.

What part of SF are you staying and what sort of lunch are you looking for? These might determine the best suggestion.

That said, the Ferry Building is a safe bet except it can be a hassle (parking) and the shops don't open until 10 a.m. Lots of choices however and if you're staying near Union Square or SOMA not so bad.
