What's your latest food project? Get great advice

I'm obsessed by the gelato I had, in all places, the Florence train station. It was mixed berry in a sweet cream or vanilla base with slabs of dark chocolate. Does anyone have a recipe I can play with until we get back to Italy?

    almost impossible to make true gelato at home without a commercial gelato machine, which makes sure to keep the mixture at the proper temp and while preventing overrun.

    most home ice cream makers simply cannot replicate that process and will lead to overrun (or too much churned air)

    the best you can do at home with an ice cream maker is to make really thick, rich ice cream.

    is it gelato? no. will it be pretty close? maybe.
