duplicate comments and posts bug
http://www.chow.com/digest/85885/bett...
I swear I only pushed the button once but my comment posted 6 times.
Have also noticed increasing frequency of duplicate original posts to message boards. There used to be an automatic check that prevented that.
![header=[] body=[<img alt='' class='photo' src='http://www.chow.com/uploads/4/5/7/4754_chowhoundlogo_large.gif?20120523220005' /><br /><strong>Melanie Wong</strong>] cssbody=[user_tooltip]](http://www.chow.com/uploads/2/5/7/4752_chowhoundlogo_tiny.gif)
We have seen this issue once or twice in testing, but have not as of yet pinned down the exact conditions that cause it. The duplicate-prevention you remember has not been changed, though something may have been inadvertently "unplugged" when we moved comments from their own pages back to the content page. Thank you for the report, and our apologies for the occasional echo while we track down the problem.

Yesterday I was in the process of accidentally posting a duplicate message and got the message.

Good to hear. Was that a reply or an original post starting a new thread?

It was a reply. The litle thingy just kept spinning and spining and spinning. So eventually I copied the post, refreshed the page and replied again. got the message that it was a duplicate.

Agreed. We are aware of the situation, but we're having some trouble pinning down specific causes. If my initial assessment is correct, users may be able to avoid multi-posting by clicking the "Add a new thread button" only once, and refreshing the page if it does not seem to respond. What exactly is preventing a normal response is still unknown.
Thank you as always for your patience while we investigate the matter, and our apologies for the annoyance.

Duplicate threads/posts should now be fixed. Duplicate comments are still WIP. Thank you for your continued patience.
