ISO low-key Morro Bay restaurant
We're nearing the end of a California road trip, have had all too many mid-range to expensive meals, and are longing for a really basic, grubby-but-good place to eat tonight in Morro Bay. The ideal place would be:
-in view of the bay
-suitable for a fairly well-behaved four-year-old.
Fresh fish, great garlic fries and outstanding chowder. Arrive before 6 pm as they close early.
If closed, try Tognazzi's Dockside. Both are popular with families.

Clam chowder at Dorn's is great - nice friendly local place with great view across the water to Morro Rock and away from the immediate waterfront scene. Chocolate cake for dessert. Their logo is "fresh and local". http://www.dornscafe.com/ Just there last night and ordered extra clam chowder to take home with us.
We were up last week, and our favorite is always Giovannis, but I am positive they do not serve dinner...as we walked down the embarcadero- we sampled some chowder at Rose's, and it was fantastic- they had a sister shop with an arcade next door, so we stopped for the kids. We ended up going in to check out the bar (for quarters!) and it had a brilliant view- and cool atmosphere. Taco Temple on the North end of town- if they are open for dinner- that would please anybody!
Enjoy where EVER you go!
