cooking fully cooked frozen mussels

I bought fully cooked frozen mussels - the direction say boil in seaed pouch for 7 minutes. My question is why can I just open the pouch and drop them in simmering sauce that I am cooking.

    Adding them to sauce to reheat will work fine. I have also defrosted them, allowed them to drain if there's a fair amount of extra liquid, depending on how they've been frozen, and cooked them from there. 7 minutes in pouch is a bit of a long cook, but I guess that time recommend takes into account the frozen state. Defrosted, they will reheat much quicker.

      Other than the added moisture to your sauce from the defrosting, it will work fine. I have done it that way many times. Just remember the added liquid could take away from your sauce a slight amount.
