Good Italian Near Greek Theater?

Going to Greek Theater tonight and would like a suggestion for good and reasonable Italian Food. I'm looking for substance and quality rather than presentation.

Friday night for Steely Dan? We parked on Hillhurst, and walked past Little Dom's to Farfalla. Excellent! I felt like I was in Boston. Hubby had pasta with salmon. Son and I shared pepperoni pizza. Excellent crust, zesty sauce and came to the table volcanically hot! Loved the olive oil with peppers and garlic for dipping. Misto salad with roasted peppers and eggplant delicious. So nice to have roasted vegetables roasted and not al dente. Actually we all ended up sharing everything. Portions were generous. They kept our water glasses filled. I want to go back and trie the pumpkin ravioli with walnut sauce.

In addition to the already noted Cappriccio, Little Dom's, and Farfalla, there's also Michaelangelo's (at the Rowena/Glendale Bl. split), and Aroma (Sunset at Silverlake).

I always take Little Dom's over Farfalla. There's also Il Capriccio on Vermont.

Obviously a matter of personal taste. My son and I took Mrs. Chandavkl to Little Dom and after the meal she actually scolded us for taking her there. Il Capriccio is good, but I don't think the value is there.

Colori Kitchen in downtown isn't that close, but worth mentioning as it's my favorite Italian restaurant that I go to every couple months.

While Barbrix isn't Italian it's Mediterranean food is (from what you describe in your "looking for substance" comment above) what you are looking for...

I've been a few times to Barbrix and really wanted to like it but didn't. I had many dishes and nothing stood out as really good or memorable - some even regrettable. Perhaps a crudo once was good but that's it and I'm fan of small plates. The space is just ok, VERY noisy, garish lighting and the staff was not very helpful or friendly any of times I've been there - in fact it was always very frenzied. I'd go Little Dom's over Barbrix.

Yes, for noisy, not helpful, frenzied and regrettable dishes, Little Doms gets my vote. The only thing it has going for it is the room.

I've been there three times. I like the deviled eggs and pappardelle there a lot. Also, sitting next to the open kitchen's cool.

I didn't try the deviled eggs but did sit near the open kitchen which reiminded me of the episode of Lucy in the chocolate factory at some point!
