Free Calorie Count Apps for Smartphones- MyFitnessPal, Fatsecret or another app?

prima Jul 8, 2011 06:37 AM

Thinking about downloading MyFitnessPal or Fatsecret. Have read some pros and cons on less chowish sites, but was hoping some Chowhounds might have experience with both.

I've been using Livestrong's Daily Plate on my desktop for years, but would rather not pay for a smartphone app.

Which do you like to use?

I love mine its called "Lose It!" It is free and has lots of restaraunt foods and even a place to put all the ingedients for your favorite home recipes and it will spit out the calories. Also it takes into account any excercise you've done and adjusts your calories accordingly. Its been really helpful to me!

Thanks southernbelly- hadn't heard of "Lose it!" Sounds like a neat app.

Good to hear it's been so helpful! :-)

Looks like "Lose It!" is still only available for iPhones, as far as I can tell.

I think Fitday has a free app. I haven't yet downloaded it, but I use Fitday online and find it pretty good.

I really like MyFitnessPal. Has most microbrew beers and a lot of restaurant/ food options. You can also create recipes and save meals.
