24 Hours in Santa Clara
I'll be in Santa Clara on Saturday and would appreciate some suggestions. I'll be at the Hyatt for a pinball expo, and am not really interested in traveling too far for a meal. I'm looking for faster options (no five course sit-downs!) that are must haves before leaving Santa Clara.
Any suggestions?
Thai
Banh mi
Indian
Indian pizza
Vegetarian sandwiches
Pizza
Fake meat Chinese
Thanks so much!

2 recommendations: Khans Restaurant on Stevens Creek, across from Santana Row at hwy. 880. It's Americanized Vetnamese, buy very good - special rice, vermicelli and catfish clay pot, are very popular items with my friends and I. We've been going there for over 10 years.
The other recommendation is for coffee - Barefoot Coffee, at Lawerence Expressway and Stevens Creek (down the road from Khans). They are in a small strip mall with Bed Bath and Beyond and serve serious coffee and espresso drinks - no foo-foo whipcreamed stuff.

I like Kabob and Curry- a northern Indian and Pakistani restaurant. As Michael pointed out, Indian is strong. You can likely spend days sampling various regional flavors.
Banh mi its probably better to go to san jose. Huong Lan on Tully. though there are some banh mi places around in sunnyvale/ santa clara.
fake meat chinese? are you vegetarian?

Indian is definitely one of the strong points in this area, so Madhuban would be a good choice. Be sure to go to the larger Sunnyvale location vs. the smaller San Jose location. Although it's in Sunnyvale, it's close to the Hyatt, just one exit down 101 at Lawrence. It's a nicer decor (and somewhat higher prices) than other Indian places around. The a la carte dinner menu is excellent, with lots of good vegetarian choices.
Enjoy!
