Funeral Luncheon

I'm looking for a private room for a funeral lunch on July 26th for 30-40 people, preferably on the Westside. Something classy but not too expensive.

I'm thinking about $30 pp for lunch. Places that I've considered are Fig at Fairmont Miramar, Cafe del Rey and Fraiche--mainly because each of those places have private rooms.

i've had recent experiences at both cafe del rey and fraiche.
of the two, i way prefer the food at cafe del rey.

Thanks! How about PaliHouse vs Shutters vs Chateau Marmont (which, I recognize, is not on the westside)? We are getting estimates in now and they're charging around $70pp for lunch without drinks, which seems really high to me. I don't have a lot of experience with this and any advice you could give would be helpful! Thanks!

I agree; those prices seem very high, particularly for lunch & no drinks. A more reasonable choice is Cafe Bizou; unfortunately, the Santa Monica branch doesn't have a private room, but both the Sherman Oaks & the Pasadena locations do, although they both may be too far a drive for your needs. Sherman Oaks offers a very good 3 course brunch/lunch for $20 a head w/ a wide variety of entrees & salads. Also, no corkage if you want to bring your own wine.
Il Fornaio in Santa Monica is attractive, tasty food & offers lunch menus for around $30 pp (not including drinks).
Il Moro on Olympic in West L.A. also has private room I believe & should be able to accommodate you for around $30 pp (again, not including drinks).
These are not quite as upscale choices as Fraiche, Shutters, Cafe Del Rey, etc. & the food may be less inspired, but they also cost significantly less while still offering attractive surroundings and reliably tasty food for a variety of palates.

Thanks! It's $48 for a caesar salad with chicken at Shutters, which makes me shudder.

it's been several years since i've been in the il moro private room, but irrc it had NO windows and was a dark cubby hole.
                maybe different now?

                shutters, imho, is way overpriced.

i know that for $25/pp INCLUDING coffee and a soft drink, cafe del rey will set you up in their semi-private lounge area serving a seated 3 course lunch. of course tax and tip will need to be added.
maybe you could get them to assign you to the lovely private room that overlooks the boats in the marina for the same price, or maybe upgrade to their $35/pp 3 course lunch?

also, irrc, there is no service fee for parking for lunch at cafe del rey, (just tip the valet), whereas most of the other places you mentioned there are hefty parking fees involved.

Thanks so much for all of your help!

        2. We ended up at Shutters. The food was so-so (pretty mediocre, considering price), but the room was beautiful.
