I am so excited, Ambler restaurant week is beginning this Sunday. Lots of restaurant specials and shopping specials too, plus art and live music next Saturday.

Here is an excerpt from the Ambler Main Street website:

Join us for a taste of Ambler’s finest during Restaurant Week - starting Sunday, July 10th - Friday, July 15th, 2011.

Participating restaurants will be offering various dinner specials and prix fixes throughout the week. Check out the restaurant specials here!

There will be artists displaying their work throughout town, live music, and extended retail hours on select nights during Restaurant Week.

Immediately following Restaurant Week, on Saturday, July 16, there will be a grand Art Stroll from 11-5pm with live music and retail excitement!

  1. I'm looking forward to it as well! I'm trying to get a couple of girlfriends together to meet up one evening. Unfortunately I have another obligation on Saturday so i'll miss the art stroll.

    1. We are really looking forward this week!

      1. So where is everyone going? I'm thinking of hitting Bridgets on Wednesday night...

Last night we went to From the Boot. We were in the mood for Italian. 3 courses for $20. When I compared the menu prices for the individual dishes, it equated to desserts served for $1. Great deal if you are a dessert person.

We're going to Bridgets on Tuesday night for the first time. Thought this might be the only way we can afford it ;)

I haven't been there recently. Any specific dishes you recommend?

The last few times we went, a couple of us shared the butcher block rack of lamb. Just delightful! We always get the mac and cheese and their steaks are always amazing. I really like their duck as well. If I am going light, I get the tuna duet and a salad. I haven't seen their restaurant week menu yet. Honestly, we have never had a bad meal there. We also like to go on Sunday when it is BYOB.

Went to Bridget's last night and decided to try the small plates. Had the sliders, paella, and a tomatoe tower. The sliders were delish - had some kind of almost but not quite sweet sauce on them so they melted in your mouth. The paella had sausage, clams, mussels, shrimp and scallop. Very spicy, in a good way, and counterpoint to the sliders. The tomatoe tower is my favorite salad there, layers of red and yellow tomatoes sandwiched with fresh mozz and thinly sliced red onion, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic. It all went down nicely with a glass of Malbec which was balanced and satisfying, albeit the pours seemed a little on the small side.

My only complaint was the NOISE. Walking in the door was like getting hit in the face with a wall of sound. We had to yell to each other across a table for two, and could barely hear the waiter. They really need to do something about that.

All in all, I will go back but look for an off night when the crowds & the decibel levels will be lower.

I agree it can get loud. That is another reason we like go on Sunday. I can compromise on the noise if necessary to enjoy a good meal there.

            2. I have a reservation at Massa on Friday. We haven't been there so I am looking forward to it.
