Easygoing bar in Dupont / U Street for a large group?
Does anyone have recommendations for a bar in the Dupont/U Street area (basically, as close as possible to 18th and T) that would let us throw party with anywhere between 20 and 40 people coming and going? We're looking for one without a cover charge or minimum $-per-head requirement, if possible--I know that's hard, so we're also willing to have the party on a weekday if necessary.
Thanks in advance!

Stetson's. They have a back and an upstairs. They used to do this sort of thing regularly, but I've been "off the circuit" for a few years.

The downstairs bar at Darlington House might allow that. My friend also had a going away party at Maddy's in Dupont Circle. They let us use the backroom and it fit probably 30 people or so coming and going.

My company is about that many, and we sometimes go to the new Madhatters on Connecticut. It has an upstairs. We normally don't reserve the room, but I bet you could ask?

Big Hunt. Used to work at Stetsons and I don't consider it Dupont or particularly good.

It's U street, which was mentioned. As for any quality - I can't speak for it anymore, though back in the day Big Hunt never impressed me. Times may have changed for both - just can't say.

Update: we ended up going with Darlington House, which was easy and agreeable. The bartenders were great, too. Thanks for the recommendations.
