I could just live on ______
I love summer! Especially because in my neck of the woods, I get awesome tomatoes, corn, blueberries, cherries, peaches, zucchini, peppers... ok, I get great fresh produce locally all summer long.
I could "live on" Jersey tomatoes and corn on the cob every day during the summer...
What foods COULD you eat every day and never get tired of?

re: mamachef
Mamachef, throw in a wild variety of yogurt flavors and you've pretty much described how I survived my health crises. SO has needed fresh veg, salads, but I needed calories and comfort. Chopped liver - gooooood. Mashed potatoes with butter, really really GOOD. Matzo ball soup from a good deli (SO doesn't cook but does deliver) - goood. Tomatoes, corn, goooood.
Throw in plenty of noodle dishes and whatever sparks your interest in life - goooooood.
Chopped liver - good! Braunschweiger - GOOD! Hang in there. Eat what tastes GOOD. The taste buds know.

I don't want to be a "gloomy gus" but the bench-mark of what really appeals to me was made during a health crisis that reduced my appetite to near-zero.
Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and peas stood out as my first request.
Lasagna was a close second.
I cheated and ate hamburgers often during that time, too.
Back to the subject: I could've eaten turkey dinners for 60 days and not tired of 'em.
And I consider myself a gourmet. Go figure.

Broccoli&cheese Rice-a-Roni. God help me.
For one thing, it reminds me of mom's casseroles. Pure comfort food. For another, it's economical (CHEAP). It was a "salad days" staple, more than Ramen soup packs, I lived on the stuff, and still could if it comes to that. It pairs well with so many other foods, meat or veg. If I were cast ashore on a desert island I'd be over the moon if a crate of water-proofed boxes of bc/RaR washed ashore after me.
I bet it would go well with breadfruit and coconut. I know it's good with fresh fish. mmmmmm I wonder if it's on sale now at my local grocery store, time to check the coupons section of the paper.

Cake. Although I am an experienced baker, a really cheap, nasty grocery-store cake is so good tasting. Everytime I go to the store I have to remind myself: IT IS NO ONE'S BIRTHDAY: NO you can NOT buy a cake.
Also store-bought cookie cake. I don't even like cookies that much, especially commerically produced cookies.. but a store-bought Cookie Cake sounds so appealing. Again, I just remind myself: NO, it's NOT your birthday... what if you buy it and then Bob shows up to find his birthday-cake, and his Cookie Cake is not here!--It would be ALL YOUR FAULT.

Buffalo tenders and french fries, served with blue cheese dip and celery. Mmmm....
I could probably eat lobster every day too. At the very least two ~1lb lobsters a week.
I'm afraid I might get tired of massaman curry (with potatoes, pineapple, baby corn, some onions) and jasmine rice every day, but who knows? -

Pho. Makizushi. Sashimi. Huo guo (Chinese hot pot). Jiaozi (potstickers). Yezi nai cha (coconut milk bubble tea). Pretty much anything that reminds me of my childhood in Southeast Asia.
Steamed lobster. Eggs Benedict. Sausage, peppers, and onions with penne. Scallop escabeche. Grandma's biscuits and gravy. Rare fillet of beef. Huckleberries. Exceptionally sharp white Cheddar. Tom Collins.

Cantaloupe. Hands-down it is my favorite food and I could eat it every day during summer. I can't imagine I would eat it every day for LIFE, but since *good* cantaloupe is available locally only 3 - 4 months of the year... I could live on it when we have it.

re: buttertart
Mmm, so delicious bt!! You know, I still haven't made FD's recipe even though I bought the book for that specific reason. I really must make it soon.
btw, did you see that I actually made some bread? Ok, just flatbreads and they were baked on the grill but bread nonetheless, involving yeast and everything!!

For cereal, I could totally live on Quaker Oats brown sugar oatmeal squares. I can absentmindedly munch through a box before I know it lol!
Other than that, I could just live on potatoes and garlic. My family has teased me since I was a little kid about living off potatoes, garlic, and spicy stuff lol. Baked, boiled, oiled, buttered, broiled, scalloped, mashed, fried, toasted, loaded, bare, and all else in between!

re: EWSflash
None of us like cherries here of any kind. Tis okay since they're anaphrodisiac - at this age I don't need anything that blunts our libido, but since we don't like them no loss ;)
@ghg: I only just opened this thread, sorry I missed your comment. Cardamom, yes, cherries, no way.
eta: for anyone else reading this please don't ask me to reference; comment was based on a few articles I read years ago and info may be conflicting.

Peaches, corn, and tomatoes in the summer. I could be happily high-raw and mostly vegan in the summer generally. Maybe 90% vegan and 10% bacon-and-tomato sandwiches? Hey, don't knock my lifestyle choices, man! ;)
I think I could really eat quinoa every day and never get tired of it, because there are so many ways to prepare and eat it, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Salad sandwiches - I almost forgot to add that to my list
My grandfather had a BIG garden and grew lettuce, we’d fight over the leftover salad in the bottom of the big bowl, it was sitting in the oil and vinegar and we’d stuff it into the heel of some really good Italian bread with a slice of tomato and call it a salad sandwich… we’d basically eat that at the end of every summer dinner at my grandparents house…I could eat a properly prepared salad sandwich every day!

Hash browns. I can eat a disgusting amount of hash browns for any meal of the day. Potatoes, onions, fat, and salt; I'm lucky to have cheap vices.
On the healthy side, massive amounts of stir-fried Chinese greens like gai lan, napa cabbage, and water spinach are on our table every night.
