Copenhagen for 3 days

Hilary Jul 6, 2011 09:19 AM

I will be in Copenhagen with my husband early August before boarding a cruise ship. We love to try local cuisine, but I hear that food is very expensive here. Can anyone suggest restaurants that won't break the bank? It doesn't have to be cheap cheap, but reasonably priced would be nice. We like all types of food, and are especially eager to have fish/seafood etc. Fancy is not necessary, but some atmosphere or local flare would be welcomed. Any food type is fine as well. Thanks.

Try the Nyhavn area near the harbour. We had a fairly good fish dinner there last October, and for Copenhagen, the prices were pretty reasonable. I think the name of the place was Fishhavyn or something like that - mermaid on side of building. There is lots of outdoor seating in that part of the city - very nice in warm weather. Riz Raz is good for a decent buffet lunch with lots of Mediterranean choices. It's not a gourmet meal but fine.

Thanks for the input. I welcome any suggestions. It doesn't have to be fancy, but something not too touristy/or expensive (it that is possible there) would be nice. Good food, maybe some atmosphere...

In the Nyhavn area is a mid-range place called Kanalen that we really enjoyed. Right by a canal - but less touristy and MUCH better food than most tourist places. Not quite a splurge, but a notch below the 'fancy places'.
Open for both lunch and dinner, but reservations recommended.
