Pardon me if the answer appears elsewhere and I didn't see it, but: is it possible to directly contact another Chowhound member? There are posters who I'd like to send private messages to, not for board consumption, but I don't see a way to do it. Thanks!

I may be way off but I noticed that someone questioning this above doesn't appear to have a profile at all. Would that be because they never set one up in the first place? If so, how would they do it after the fact? Mine was set up years ago. I'm just asking for anyone who might have skipped it and wants to do it now.

One can modify one's profile - create, add, change, delete- any time.

Are you responding to my post Veggo? I wasn't questioning whether someone WITH a profile could modify it, I was asking if it was possible that someone could have never made a profile in the first place and having nothing to modify.

Everyone with a Chowhound username who has posted in the past 4-5 years has a profile, whose public information can be seen when you click on their username. They may not have entered anything in the fields in the profile, but they still have one and can enter information into it if they want.

and if you're as paranoid as I am under 'real' name I use my FB pseud. it takes a few more steps to contact me, but it always beats me why anybody would want to anyway.

I can't even figure out how to add an e-mail address to my own profile. I would like to see a Private MEssage function on here too (maybe with the ability to not accept PMs for those concerned with that). I use plenty of other forums and I have only been "Spammed" via PM maybe twice or three times in many years but received a lot of useful info otherwise. I have even had users from Chowhound PM me via those other forums since I use the same username there as well and it has been welcome information.

If you go to your profile page (assuming you are signed in to Chowhound at the time) and then clicking on the edit button of either the "blog:" or "location:" sections you can then add your email address to either of those two places and then click on "save" and you will see it displayed.

Some posters provide an email address on their profile page, and you can contact them that way. As far as I know, there is no way to private message anyone through the Chowhound site.

Many Hounds have an e-mail address posted on their profile page. That's how we connect with others. There is no private message function.

Scroll to the right of a profile page and you will see iformation people have entered about themselves. As Servorg notes downthread if there is an e-mail listed it's usually where the blog web site is listed. Most times you will see the e-mail address is not written as such but you can usually figure it out. Click on my avatar and see what I mean...

Where exactly can you add an email address? I have gone to my profile and cannot see any place to add one. It would be nice if there was a choice to add one or not, and then we would not have to have all of these posts deleted due to the fact that we somehow, unknowingly, did not follow the rules.
