Collegeville Bakery & Deli - Ridge Pike, Collegeville, PA
My neighbor and I stopped by the Collegeville Bakery today to pick up football rolls for my July 4th Pulled Pork & Meatball sandwiches. While there, I also picked up homemade pasta, sauce, Tiramisu and my new favorite soda - San Pellegrino Limonata - a tart soda with 18% real lemon juice. Haven't tried their hoagies yet, but have to say that the manager and bakery personnel were very friendly. I will definitely be back to try more of their Italian goodies. The bakery also carries a nice selection of cold soda, Pizzelles and other baked goods. (Note: The Collegeville Italian Deli is directly across the street from the bakery - they are not affiliated, nor does the deli use rolls from the bakery)

re: ilovesummer
I always confuse the two as well. I thought there might have been a family split and one faction moved across the street.
All I know is that, after four years, I've never returned to the one next to Enterprise after seeing one of the staff crawling around behind the counter on hands and knees (on a far-from-clean floor) only to start handling the bread for a customer without even wiping her hands. I was so grossed out, I shot them an email when I got home but never received a reply.

re: Chefpaulo
interesting! my understanding is that there WAS some type of falling out in the family which resulted in the split. we actually do not like the one next to Agway at all.....and have always much preferred the one next to Enterprise. That said......you really can't top the hoagies/ hot peppers/cheese at the Italian Market on 73 in Skippack. Much more expensive but so worth it.....maybe even more so after your comments on the (lack of ) cleanliness at Collegeville...

re: ilovesummer
Hello again ilovesummer. I was at the bakery next to Enterprise Rentals. I can see how they get confused. That's one of the reasons why I ordered rolls, so I could go there and check them out. The rolls smell awesome. I had them in a hot car today while running errands and they smelled like they were still baking. Can't wait to try them tomorrow.

re: curly girl
thanks CG.....That IS the place we have always liked....so we ARE still on the same page with our likes/dislikes. Tried the one across the street once and not so pleased. Have always loved their rolls, peppers, hoagies, tomato pies, etc next to Enterprise....tho as I mentioned earlier...the italian market in skippack wins hands down for the best italian hoagie in the area. CP's negative comment is the first I have heard....so here's hoping it was a one time blunder....as well as the fact that 4 years ago it was a different owner!
thanks...happy 4th-
re: ilovesummer
Thanks ilovesummer - Happy 4th to you too. Have tried Skippack Italian Market hoagies twice now. They are very good. We usually get our hoagies and cheese steaks at Brothers in Harleysville. It's so convenient and they make their own rolls. Will try Skippack Italian Market again sometime this Summer.

re: curly girl
Had stopped in the Amway one day while passing thru. A fellow there explained the whole evolution of the two delis. While they are two steps way from the one they cross the busy highway to go to the one next to Enterprise, the bakery. The renovation done in the last year made this a very nice place with great sandwiches, breads, Italian food stuffs and friendly people and yes very clean!
