Tampa Bay Area: In search of a good Knife Sharpening Service

meatn3 Jul 2, 2011 08:57 AM

I'll be visiting my parents soon and cooking to replenish their frozen assets ;-).
I noticed their knives were in bad shape on my last visit and would like to get them sharpened.

I'm looking for a skilled human who is well versed in different styles and metals - they have several unusual knives picked up during world travels years ago.

The time period won't allow for a mail in service and I do not want to do this myself!

I'm open to travel anywhere in Pinellas, Hillsborough or Pasco counties. Possibly a little further...

I've used Michael at Precision Edge in Sarasota 941-544-3511 - he's very meticulous and extremely reasonable.

There is an excellent sharpener at the St Pete Downtown Farmer's Market on Saturdays during the winter season. The market is going on this summer in Williams Park, but I am not sure if the sharpener is there. YOu can email the market management from their nice website and ask. The market itself is fun anyway, especially in the winter.

Thanks for the suggestions. In the end I went with Top Chef Tools. I was able to meet Tim at a spot on his route. He travels throughout the area in a mobile unit to restaurants. We e-mailed and hit upon a day and time.

He did a terrific job at a very reasonable price. He also has some wonderful cook tools available too. I wish he was in my area.
