Closing of Chef Ricks in Orcutt

As some of the local Central Coast foodies know,Chef Ricks in orcutt has closed with the chef taking over the Far Western Restaurant kitchen. Definitively the end of an area in Santa Maria.
I was a frequent customer from 1989 on and had many a fine meal there. I had romantic dinners, company dinners and the occasional lunch. All were good . I had my favorites but everything I had on the menu was excellent. Good times.

Thanks for your testimony. Indeed, he put fine dining on the map in this Central Coast area. May he continue to succeed in Olde Towne Orcutt which is a far more charming locale and more of a worthy country drive destination than the strip mall he graced for so many years. We thinks this just might be a good move for all concerned. Time will tell, but Orcutt is a Central Coast sleeper of hidden affluence and civilized depth. Wonders what a good school system does to draw in good people.

TJ, Drape that post in black crepe! What a sad update. Thanks for reporting and hope for better news someday, plus learning what they will do with the old Far Western iconic location as well.
