Is the Wedge Inn still around? Still good?

Nope, it's called Michael's now, it's Italian food, and seafood specialties. I heard they do inexpensive hot wedges as an homage to the old Wedge Inn. I haven't been there since the days when I used to meet up at the Inn back in the late '70's to mid '80's to race hot rods.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a wedge? Thanks.

The Wedge Inn is gone unfortunately, as is Nick's Heroes of Morris Park, and Busco's Heroes of Throggs Neck. All good, all gone. Baron Ambrosia, the personality behind Bronx Flavor, seems to prefer the sandwiches offered at the Cozy Cottage in that same neighborhood. Fairway isn't far from there either, so you have that option available to you also.

Sluggo, a "wedge" is a hero, grinder, sub, etc.

Thanks Cheese Boy. I have never heard of a grinder, hero or sub referred to as a wedge.

there's an interesting wikipedia entry about the history of sub sandwiches and the names they carry (including wedge):
