So we ended up going to Bacchus around 3...it was completey empty and we sat in the garden.
We ordered some cold white wine and steak sandwiches which were both above average.
The highlight of the meal was the creme brulee...OMG...it was one of the best tasting creme brulees I've ever tasted including the ones I've tasted in France. Their coffee wasn't bad either.-----

re: Monica
Glad to hear you liked it. I think the place is under rated for its food. I don't think i've ever had a bad meal there. The service is also very friendly. We once went with a group of 6 and had reservations for dinner at 8. The place was packed and they couldn't get our table set for about 30 minutes so they broke out a bottle of champagne and poured it for us as we waited on the house. Made the wait very pleasant.

I wouldn't waste the calories or money on a single place on Montague. Got to Sahadi's and get takeout if you have time.

re: thegforceny
Sahadi's and a bench on the promenade are indeed better than anything you're going to find on Montague St.
Other ideas in the hotel vicinity are:
Pete's Waterfront Ale House (good bar food / drink selection) - this is my standard dinner spot at my yearly event at the Marriott
Bedouin Tent (the other way on Atlantic - middle eastern)
Brucie (Court St) gets good reviews but I haven't been - also the best ice cream around is at
Blue Marble (also on Court St)
Ki Sushi (Smith) is the top Sushi in the area and also closest.-----

re: cazique
I really like Waterfront ale house too but i was there not too long ago and wanted to see if there are new places.
Brucie sounds nice actually...but their lunch menu is very limited but I definitely want to check them out for dinner. Thanks for the recommendation.
Not in the middle eatern or sushi mood..
today is a good day for some nice cool wine and something delicious...will most likely go to Bacchus.

re: parkslopemama
Parkslopemama, haha, I am looking for a decent lunch spot around the court area(near Marriot hotel). It seems to be there are alot of 'ok' restaurants around there but no place that is 'good'.
So how is Bacchus? I've been researching and the place seems to have decent reviews.Cafe Buon Gusto sounds good too. Height Cafe sounds alright but the menu is very generic.

Hmmmm, best sit down meal on Montague. That's a tough one. While there is variety, I think of the food as generally in the meh vein. Not terrible, not great. Among the Italian choices, I think Buon Gusto is better than the others. For Chinese, Andy's is ok. The Japanese is bleh. Teresa's has decent enough diner/eastern european standards. Heights Cafe has some good american fare. I think the best dish on the street is the crab cake at the Casino but its not open to the public. I would think the more interesting question would be what's the best on Atlantic?

re: Bkeats
I agree with Bkeats that Caffe Buon Gusto and Heights Cafe are decent, although Montague Street doesn't have anything great. I might add Taze to the list (Turkish place at 142 Montague, 2nd floor). There is also Queen nearby on Court Street.
