New potatoes -- in the microwave instead of boiling?

I plan to make Pioneer Woman's crash hot potatoes tonight but I'll be strapped for time when I get home from work, and want to eliminate the whole bring-pot-of-water-to-boil and boil-till-tender steps. Can little new (red) potatoes be successfully microwaved? for anyone not familiar w/ the crash hot potatoes recipe, I do need to keep the potatoes whole, rather than cutting them up (which I know would speed up the microwaving process).

I've done it that way and it's been fine. Just make sure to poke holes in them first. And, crash potatoes can be made w/ cut potatoes, too. I do it w/ sweet potatoes.
