Juicy Burger on Vermont is closed -- temporarily
The burger stand next to the Los Feliz Theater has been closed for over a week, with no indication of the reason why ... furniture and equipment intact, CLOSED sign showing regular hours ... the kind of thing you see too often nowadays when management is dodging creditors.
So I called the other branch at Hollywood and Ivar, and got good news: they say the closure is temporary and they'll be open "in two or three weeks". I didn't go into details but it sounds like maybe an equipment problem. (Also no postings indicating a Health Dept. issue, they passed with a 98 rating late last year ...)
JB is fast becoming my favorite burger joint, I still occasionally frequent Umami but only on off hours, I find that place impossible at mealtimes esp. on weekends.
Will comment here when it re-opens. Meanwhile, there's still the Hollywood branch.

re: Burger Boy
It so happens I had dinner there last night. JB is a knockoff of the Counter in that you check off options on a sheet and hand it to the cashier.
Fewer options at JB -- sorry, no dried cranberries -- but better meat and buns, plus a medium rare burger is really medium rare, and they've never told me I have to settle for medium. And cheaper; $5 for a basic 1/3 pounder vs $6.50 at the Counter.
Last night I had grilled onions and Jack cheese ... totally hit the spot.

FWIW, Eater LA seems to think it's a Health Dept. issue:
