anything new for dinner in cape may?
We are going to union park and peter shields for dinner. One night left. Suggestions? We go annually, so we have been to most of the restaurants.

After lovely afternoon sightseeing in Cape May, wife and I wanted to have an early dinner. Having already been to many local favorites (i.e.Peter Shields & 410 Bank, both very good) we wanted to try something different. We wound up at Black Duck on Sunset for an early bird dinner and were extremely pleased. The interior is divided into lovely dining rooms and has a fresh sophisticated vibe with lovely dinner music. Although we were ordering from the early bird menu, (super value @ $21.95) same offered a nice variety and the food was terrific. Wife and I both had lobster bisque, crab cakes and vanilla mousse, all well prepared and beautifully presented. Looking to return for regular menu as offerings looked super. Service could not have been better. BYOB. Two minutes from beach. Highly recommend.

I can not WAIT to try the new Tony Clark restaurant in Cape May, The Old Grange. It is on Route 9, so it sounds like you have to drive, but after stellar reviews, I am very anxious to try it out. I, personally, think if I had one night left to fill in a reservation, it would be there!!!

I guess I have to answer my own question. We ate at Peter Shields Inn, Union Park and La Veranda at the Hotel Alcott. All were very good and I would rate them in the order listed from best to not so best, but all were quite good and we would not hestitate to return.
I do think that the economy has dimmed the good food scene. No traffic jams on the ride to Cape May and back from Essex County, empty seats at the expensive restaurants at prime time, etc.
