College BFFs back together 1 night only- MAKE IT COUNT!

We want a fun place...Weho to Santa Monica ( the closure to Weho the better). If we can keep dinner to $150 including wine that would be great.

She is from out of town (SF) and requesting

American - The Grill, Maestros
Italian - Madeos,
Seafood - BP Osteria (Son of a gun has no reso) - WHERE ELSE?
Thai - Jitlada

We need to be able to talk and have fun. Good wine is always a plus!

  1. Just ate at Son of a Gun and I like Animal better. Why not sit at the bar at Animal or Pizzeria Mozza and drink wine and order a bunch of dishes. I bet you could be way satiated and still meet your budget at either place.

I agreed with the Animal rec. Last week, I ate at Animal and Son of a Gun back-to-back (it was a good week!!) and while our meal at Son of a Gun was excellent, Animal is still my favorite restaurant. Two of us shared 4 plates and 2 desserts (the sticky toffee pudding is amazing) and our bill came to around $80 before tip so it should be easily within your budget.

The din at Animal can sometimes be inconducive to conversation amongst BFFs per the OP's request.

    2. Half of son of a gun is walk in. I think you would be ok with only 2 ppl if you don't mind waiting a little.

        1. How many people?? Just two??

Go to Palms Thai for the Elvis guy & karaoke.

Go to Dan Tana's and sit at the bar and get an education in east coast mafioso, it's a riot.

Go to Cole's and then the Varnish for americana.

Go to Nobu and get spoiled by the omakase.

Cole's/Varnish is a good idea. Their take on The Last Word is very tasty.

Dan Tana's is a blast. I would not sit at the bar, but ask to sit in the bar room. Cant go wrong.

I sat at the bar before, while waiting for the rest of my party, not necessarily to eat at the bar, but they do let you if so inclined. But often they have their regulars there and on a busy night, you usually have to wait a while for your table.

            2. Seafood - BP Osteria
do you mean Blue Plate Oysterette?

i just had a reunion with old high school friends at Eveleigh a few weeks ago & we had a blast.
