Steak in Boca

I have been to Abe and Louies in Boca and had a very goood meal, how does New York Prime compare to it. I need to choose one of these for a special dinner this weekend . Although I liked my steak at Abe&Louies, the atmosphere was not the best. I have heard that NY Prime is a lot more upscale atmosphere, but how does the food compare?
Thanks

  1. NY Prime is really really noisy. Food is like all the other steakhouses in town. There is also Capital Grille, Chops Lobster House, Ruth's Chris and Mortons. I would pick Chops as my favorite out of these followed by Capital Grille and Abe and Louies.

    1. I'm looking for the best steakhouse in Boca/Delray. I know many NON-steakhouse restaurants have good steak. But I want the whole steakhouse atmosphere thing for a certain occasion.

I've been to Ruth and was NOT blown away.

I'm thiking Capital Grille, although Smartie indicates Chops may be better.

And right on the Ave in Delray now we've got Cut 432 and Prime Delray.

      Any additional thoughts?

C - in my opinion Chops is hands down the best, expensive though. Their dover sole is unbelievable, ask for it on the bone grilled with butter and fillet it yourself if you are able - it's proper English sole from my side of the pond.
        2nd, Capital Grille
3rd Abe and Louis but interchangeable with Capital Grille depending on the night, Abe n Louis is noisier than Cap Grille
Mortons, Ruth's Chris and NY Prime are 4th equal

Cut 432 and Prime are just ok for me sort of 5th.

          Thanks, good to know.

For this visit however I only want steak.

I want a prime, aged, big porterhouse for 2 so I can have the best filet and the best strip in S Florida.

      2. Another vote for Abe and Louie's. Amazing creamed spinach and mashed. We loved our dinner there. It's not a romantic place, but it's ok. I thought the bar area was fun and noisy. Dinner in the main dining room didn't put me off though (as far as noise).

I haven't been to Prime but have also heard (from some outside of chowhound) it's quite a scene (noisy and crowded). Food is supposed to be great. Definitely supposed to be more upscale, maybe a bit too upscale.

I don't like Ruth Chris. They drown their filet mignon in a pool of butter. I love butter, almost as much as Paula Dean, but this was gross. I did like their salads though.

Mortons is fun for happy hour and bar bites, but their dinner menu is tired and old and frankly their dining room is dull and tired too.

I LOVE Cut432. It's fun and lively and one of the best filet mignon's I've ever tasted. Great happy hour and bar bite menu too. Highly recommend this.

I haven't been to Capital Grill in years and I went to the one in Boston so I can't speak about it. I definitely would like to try Chops one day soon.

        1. NY Prime is very crowded and has a decimate attitude.. Stick with Abe & Louies
Chops is sometimes hit or miss...especially when it is the slow season
