Two day trip to Philly, need help

Planning a two day, one night trip in to Philly next week and need some recommendations. Already planning dinner on Wed night at Osteria (don't have the budget for Vetri) but otherwise have no specific plans. Need lunch options for Wed and Thurs...preferably solo diner friendly and a good dinner spot for Thurs night. Also looking for some good cocktails pre or post dinner on Wednesday. I will have a car, but would prefer to keep cocktails around the City Center...no DUIs for this guy! Thanks!

Thanks for the help so far! Barbuzzo does look pretty tasty for lunch, but I've also heard a lot of good things about Paesano's and about the pork, rabe and provolone sandwich, I think at the Market?
Village Whisky would be awesome, my travel companion and I are big bourbon fans...
Should have been more specific, it will be 2 of us for dinner on Thursday...any opinions on Tria?

Tria is good.. for something a bit more off the beaten path/unique I would also recommend Monsu (to add to the many good options on your list so far). A bit further south but it's excellent SIcilian food, which you don't get as often. Another good one is Garces Trading Company, homestyle mediterranean/American with one of the better wine shops inside the place, so it's BYO without the hassle.

Paesano's is an awesome choice for lunch. It's in the Italian Market, not the Reading Terminal Market.

But DiNic's is in the Reading Terminal Market and is another good lunch choice. Personally I think Garces Trading Co. is past it's heyday.

this may be true (re: Garces). They have great euro-style sandwiches for lunch if the OP is in the area and doesn't want the gutbusting DiNics or Paesano's (which I would also recommend!).

Unfortunately Paesano's new location is a real dump. They could have at least replaced the brown stained ceiling itles.

Try Bibou, Charlotte and Pierre treat all single as VIP's.

I, too, would suggest Zahav....but not open for lunch!

Definitely check out Barbuzzo for lunch.
They put together a great anipasta everyday. Wednesday night is center city sips - check out this site for some great cocktail ideas http://www.centercityphila.org/life/S....

My only comment would be Barbuzzo is very similar to Osteria ...

Places for drinks.. Oyster House on Sansom... Noble (drinks only .. food is up and down) .. Franklin Mortgage... Village Whiskey (great bar small and hard to get into) ...

Solo friendly I would again throw out Oyster House Dandelion Pub Pub and Kitchen and even one of the best restaurants in the city Zahav accomodates solo diners well at the bar.
